Welcome!
I started my musical journey as a pianist; from 1993 to 2003 I was mainly active as a pianist and keyboard player within soul, funk, electric and acoustic jazz. I also performed at more experimental venues, combining contemporary music and more free improvised music.
In 1999 I completed my master in western classical composition and piano at the Academy of Music, University of Gothenburg (Sweden). Since then, my compositions are to be heard in films, documentaries, radio broadcasts and on stage in different ensembles and projects.
A passion for the bansuri and North Indian classical music brought me in 2003 to the World Music Academy at the Conservatory of Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and to Mumbai (India) to study with bansuri master Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia.
As a musician I use my musical background and experience to experiment freely on the bansuri. I find great joy in bringing this beautiful instrument and my sound to new unexplored musical places such as flamenco, Scandinavian folk music, jazz, free improvisation, western contemporary music and my own compositions as well as other new composed music.
I enjoy to collaborate with other artforms such as dance, theatre and film and had the privilege to do so over the years at different occasions.
I also teach and appreciate my work as an educator giving classes, masterclasses and workshops in improvisation, ensemble, harmony, modal theory, composition, piano and bansuri flute at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg, the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (Sweden).
